Holly Noakes was found dead three months ago in the third floor bathroom. She had snuck up there to inject herself with heroin, a drug she had been driven to use by depression. She had been picked on and bullied because she was heavier than most girls. Whether this was an accident or something more intentional it's impossible to know. At her funeral the Headmaster read some of the insults that had been said behind her back, ranging from cow to gluttonous pig. He called for immeadiate change, said he wanted to put an end to bullying. He was most upset that, being such a recent addition to the staff, he hadn't had time to catch on to what was happening before it was too late.
In their grief, the students didn't realize what was wrong with his speech. They all criticized their fellow students for their words without realizing the fault in logic that was occuring all around them.
Holly Noakes had never been that unhappy. She had never been tormented the way the Headmaster said. Sure, a few snide remarks had been said, but no one targeted her. She was popular.
The students moved on as a whole. They grew to accept that Holly was dead and, for the most part, stopped thinking about it. The wounds healed for all of the students but six. These six knew the truth. They knew that Holly Noakes had been murdered. She had really been found in the center of the football field, her body spread eagle in the center of the field and the word "one" written in purple spray paint on the grass next to her.
Six students, one staff member, and the killer. These are the only people who know the story behind Holly's death. For now.
The guilt is weighing heavily on those that know (though not too heavily, they are not, exactly, the most virtuous people) as well as the fear. The killer is still out there, and only seven people know he exists. A person like that? It's only so long before he kills again.
And then there's the drug problem. Obviously second on most people's list of priorities, but still a concern. Who is supplying all of this heroin to the students and where did the sudden obsession come from?
